Committees

The Around Atlanta Committee is responsible for planning unique and diverse experiences for Georgia State students in the metro-Atlanta area. These events range from annual Georgia State traditions to bi-annual special events. In addition, this committee works to create new traditions that will connect Georgia State students with the awesome events happening in our backyard.

Events planned by this committee include:

  • Advance Movie Screenings
  • GSU Night at the Aquarium
  • GSU Night at Six Flags

The Arts Committee is responsible for presenting inspiring elements of the arts to the Georgia State student body. The committee manages the exhibits on display in the Student Center Gallery Lounge and plans events on the Courtyard Stage. This new committee is also charged with developing new programs that will infuse the arts into the Georgia State student experience.

The Distinguished Speaker Series Committee is responsible for planning and executing the Distinguished Speaker Series. This program hosts a diverse group of nationally and internationally known speakers in an effort to create an atmosphere of general discussion and thought among Georgia State students, faculty and staff. Lectures and presentations in this series introduce thought-provoking topics and materials to generate dialogue and expose the campus community to new ideas.

The Ideas and Issues Committee focuses on facilitating events that will engage the Georgia State community in critical discussions that promote personal and professional development. This committee works to highlight important topics through a series of unique events that encourage dialogue and higher-level learning.

  • Hot Topic Discussion Series
  • Local Alumni Speaker Series

The Membership Committee is home to Campus Events volunteers and the Associate Board. Volunteers are an important part of the Campus Events team and help each committee in its efforts to execute top-notch programs. The Associate Board serves as the team of students who work with the committees’ student directors. Students serving on the board make up the committees’ membership and help in developing programs for students.

The Panthers at Woodruff Committee is responsible for supporting a partnership between Georgia State and the Woodruff Arts Center. This team works to raise awareness of this special program that gives students access to events at the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art and offers discounted rates for hosting events at the Woodruff Arts Center. In addition, the committee is charged with planning special events at the center.

  • College Night at the High
  • Family Concerts
  • Friday Night Lates
  • Georgia State Night
  • VIP Receptions

The Public Relations and Social Media Committee is responsible for coordinating publicity and promotion for Campus Events programs through a variety of media, such as promotional materials and on-campus media outlets, as well as maintaining all of the department’s social media accounts.
